The 2010 President's Message
Welcome to the 2010 soccer season. Team reps are starting to plan, tournaments are becoming sanctioned and soon enough you will be hearing from the club on tournaments to be scheduled for the upcoming year. That means April and green grass will be here quickly.
Our spring meeting will be in the “F” Room, Oshkosh West High School on March 28th, 6 p.m. Please plan on attending so we can distribute uniforms and player cards. We will have Oshkosh United merchandise to order and also pick up if you have pre-ordered merchandise. The merchandise order forms will soon be available.
Our Oshkosh on the Water Tournament is coming together nicely under the leadership of Randy Campbell. He has been working with a team of United parents to get the word out and results are looking very exciting. Randy is planning terrific options to the tournament that will add some real class. The tournament is being held a week later than normal, June 11-13, 2010 at the County Park – what we lovingly refer to as the Soccer Complex. Watch the website and your email for further updates on our 26th tournament.
My role as President is to make sure you and your son/daughter have a great soccer experience with Oshkosh United. If there is anything I can do for your family, please let me know. One thing I ask of you is to help our / your club by volunteering. Being a completely volunteer-run organization, there are many opportunities to help and without volunteers, there is no club. If you see any opportunity to help, please let I or Lisa Weiher our volunteer coordinator know.
Looking forward to a great year,
Mike James
Oshkosh United President

Players (Still) Needed!
There are now TWO teams that need players. The U12 Girls Green Team has sufficient numbers! That leaves U15 Boys Green Team and U17 Boys, each of which could use only two more players! If you know of or can recommend players for any of the above, please email Brad Cirricione, VP for the club for Boys and Stacy Berger for Girls. Thanks!

A great collection of soccer moments from Susan Boyd.
Click here for details. Susan Boyd blogs each Monday on USYouthSoccer.org. The most recent gave me a smile, remembering the days when coaching the littlest of the players and their responses to what I thought were great suggestions. Susan Boyd collected several similar examples. Enjoy! - Steve Finley, Web and PR.
WYSA News
Fee Increase Coming?
During the WYSA AGM, the board is proposing a modified fee structure. For recreational players U10 and below, the per-player fee would be only $5.50. For recreational players U11 and older, the fee would be $9.50 and for Classic players, the fee would be $17.50. This fee structure encourages a few concepts. First, the cost for those players primarily participating within a club, the fee is a low as possible. For the Classic players that require additional administration, the fee is high. We hope this will allow clubs to reduce costs for our youngest players.
Exciting news for 2011
The local organizing committee is heavy into planning the 2011 Midwest Regional Championship being hosted in northeast Wisconsin. This event will feature the best teams from the 14 State Associations in US Youth Soccer’s Midwest Region. These teams are trying to earn their way to the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Overland Park, Kansas. Plans are in the works to try to have the registration and opening ceremonies at Lambeau Field. Watch for more information in the future.
Non-Sanctioned Events Participation
A recent issue with USYSA has been clarified. It is still up for repeal but the essence of the issue is that WYSA cannot prevent players, teams or clubs from participating in or conducting non-sanctioned events. For details, article 1 and article 2.
