| 5 REASONS TO PLAY UNITED U6/U8 |
- Oshkosh United provides a quality and fun experience for all players.
Soccer is fun! Oshkosh United stresses this at every moment. Practices are geared towards fun activities and games. We follow the three L's motto: No lines, no laps, no lectures. Games are more enjoyable as fewer players sit on the bench (a maximum of 3 substitutes) and fewer players on the field means more opportunities for players to dribble, pass, and score!
- We follow youth soccer guidelines of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Both soccer federations are in agreement - young players need to play small-sided soccer. Small-sided soccer, such as 3 v 3 or 4 v 4, allow players more opportunities to handle the ball. Not only is this the "fun" part of soccer, but it makes for better soccer players.
- Team rosters are capped at seven players.
The benefits of a small roster size are innumerable. Players are guaranteed to have over 50% playing time. with small numbers, managing a team become much easier (If teams can find two parent-volunteers this means a coach to player ratio of close to 1:3!!!). And as always, small teams with small-sided games means that players get more touches on the ball.
- Every session will be overseen by professional and licensed Oshkosh United soccer coaches.
Oshkosh United prides itself on it's coaching staff. While we rely on parent-coach volunteers, at least one, qualified and licensed Oshkosh United coach will oversee the development of all teams and coaches. To accomplish this, United provides written practice plans for every session, a guide to coaching U6/U8 players, hands on assistance during your training session, and question and answer times before and after every session. Not only is this a great opportunity for your children to grow as players, it is also a great opportunity for parents to grow as coaches. Take a look at a sample practice plan or meet some of our coaches who work in youth development.
- Cost is minimal.
A $50, all inclusive fee, provides for field use, equipment, team jerseys and professional coaches to oversee the youth development league. In addition, Oshkosh United uses the money generated by this endeavor solely for youth development and not for any other aspect of running the club.
