Technical Skills:

1. 1v1 Attacking skills – introduce fakes, feints, and cuts
2. Dribbling for possession à shielding
3. Dribbling for speed
4. Turning with the ball
5. Introduce push pass
6. Striking the ball and shooting with laces (introduce)
7. 1v1 defensive stance
8. Block tackle
9. Receiving ground balls with the inside of the foot
1. Open to the field
2. 1st touch moving
10. GK: Ready stance, how to hold ball after a save, diamond grip, catching, punting, introduction to taking goal kicks

Tactical Ideas:

1. 1v1 defending
1. Approach to 1st attacker
2. When to tackle
2. 1v1 attacking
1. When to take a player on
2. Dribble at defender
3. Playing  away from pressure

Technical Skills

1. Refine all previous techniques
2. Receiving and Turning
3. Receiving ground balls with the outside of the foot
4. Receiving balls out of the air with the instep and inside/outside of foot (wedge)
5. Receiving balls out of the air with the chest and thigh
6. Introduce additional feints (let’s get specific)
7. Heading
8. Crossing

Tactical Ideas

1. Positional interchange
2. 2v2 Defending (introduce second (cover) defender)
3. 2v2 Attacking à Combination Play (overlap, takeover, wall pass)
4. Thirds of the field and Risk vs. Safety
5. Verbal and visual communication for all positions

Technical Skills:

1. Reinforce all previous techniques
2. Reinforce heading à to score goals and for clearance
3. Passing with the outside of the foot
4. Chipping (to be introduced in a passing practice… not to be a session of its own)
5. Different types of volleys: Half-volley, instep volley, inside of foot volley
6. GK: footwork; W grip; bowling; low dives & forward diving; angle play; near post play; introduce deflecting and boxing; sidewinder kick

Tactical Ideas:

1. Switching the point of attack
2. Different types of runs (checking, forward bent, diagonal)
3. 4v4 attacking (penetration, width, support)
1. Stretching a team high and wide
2. Providing an angle to receive a ball
4. Possession

Technical Skills:

1. Reinforce all previous techniques
2. Reinforce chipping to pass and score
3. Heading to pass
4. Bending the ball (to be introduced within a passing practice… not to be aa session topic of its own)
5. Shooting with a variety of surfaces including: outside of foot, instep, toe, inside of foot
6. GK: far post play; medium and high diving; deflecting over the crossbar and around the posts; boxing and catching crosses; half-volley (drop kick); kick saves; long over arm throws; saving penalty kicks

Tactical Ideas:

1. Balancing defenders (3rd defenders)
2. 3rd attacker runs (unbalancing attackers)
3. Possession for penetration
4. Recovery runs for defenders
5. Game management
6. Restarts

Tactical: 2% (tactical instruction at this age should happen during end of practice scrimmages or through points made at a half-time speech)

Technical: 85%  (still most of the practices will have technical themes)
Tactical: 15%  (session topics may include the role of the second defender; combination play.  Other tactical ideas should be taught in the run of play; before or at halftime of a game)
