  • Focus on teaching soccer and sportsmanship
    • Follow-up on poor behavior of coaches
    • Utilize Tracking System developed in ‘08  for yellow/red cards
      • By Club
      • By Team
      • By Individual

  • Reduce the amount of administrative follow-up
    • Let the kids play --- keep the adults out of the way
    • Be prepared for game day (Game day checklist)
    • Dispute Resolution (Usually scores)
    • Game reschedule/forfeit

Reducing Administrative Follow-up

  • Top 2 issues causing administrative follow-up
    • Incorrectly filled out score cards
    • Disputes over “no-shows” and rescheduling of games

  • Recommended Club action
  • Teach your coaches how to fill out a score card


  • Review Game Day Check with all Coaches (and give them a copy for inclusion with other game equipment)

  • Four Principles
  • Avoid it if you can
  • Communicate with the other team!
    • Be Adult
    • “I left a message” or “I e-mailed them” is not communication
    • Focus on letting the kids play (vs. “winning” the forfeit argument)
  • Communicate with your Club/Other Club
    • President
    • Referee Assignor
    • Field Commissioner/Assignor
  • Utilize the “Game Change and Dispute Resolution Form”
